Illustrated Catalogue of Daylight Bomb Shells No. 44, Jinta Hirayama, 1883

This adorable die is an illustration from a catalog of daytime “fireworks” created by Japanese pyrotechnist Jinta Hirayama in 1877. These creations were closer to open-bottomed balloons than the fireworks we know today.

Jinta Hirayama was an enterprising pyrotechnist who, in 1877, founded The Hirayama Fireworks company in Yokohama. Hirayama is from Mikawa Province (modern-day Aichi Prefecture).

This is an unframed art print on museum-quality paper.

Please note: We strive to give you the best printing quality possible, however due to the difference between our printers and computer monitors, the colors in your fine art print will appear slightly different from how they are on your screen.

Some original images are cropped to fit the aspect ratio of the print. We choose the best sizes for each artwork and try to crop as little as possible, but be aware that your print could differ slightly in this way from the original art.
